National sprinter to compete in Tokyo on August 3

Mohd Firdaus Ar-Rasyid bin Haji Mohd Idris and coach Isidero Del Prado left Brunei Darussalam yesterday to compete in the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The national sprinter will compete in the men’s 200m sprint event on August 3.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin bade farewell to the Brunei contingent at the Brunei International Airport.

Religious Head of Welfare Home Complex at the Community Development Department Mohammad Shahrin bin Sulaiman led the recitation of prayers.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam Kakuta Hiromi and Acting Director of Youth and Sports Mariam binti Ulat were also present.

National swimmer Muhammad Isa bin Ahmad completed his stint in the Tokyo Olympic Games finishing 1:08.65s in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke swimming. He has returned to the country and is serving a two-week quarantine period.
