Changes in time for Olympic Day 2013

Changes in time have been made for the Olympic Day 2013 this Sunday.

Interested parties can now start signing up for the one-day event to be held at the Temburong Sports Complex at 6am.

Organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports, the event is now set to begin at 7.30am preceded by an aerobics session.

Various activities will be held and are open to all age groups.

Sports activities 5-a-side football, kids athletics, hockey, bocce (special event for disabled people), tug-of-war, sepak takraw, futsal, netball, basketball and traditional games will be contested.

Other activities include learn to swim sessions, flying fox, BDNOC exhibitions and colouring competition for children.

A lucky draw event will also be held.

Free t-shirts will be given to all participants and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

This year the Brunei Methanol Company (BMC) sponsored the official attire, approximately 2000 shirts.

Olympic Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide to commemorate the birth of modern Olympics on June 23, 1894 in Athens, Greece.

His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the president of BDNOC, is expected to attend the event. This is the first time that Olympic Day is held in the district.
