Hj Naim Brahim and Abd Rahman Hj Omar finally shifted gears in the lawn bowls men's pairs event when they won both their games yesterday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex in New Delhi.

The highly rated duo easily defeated Botswana 2-0 (19-5, 10-5) before dispatching Papua New Guinea 2-0 (12-7, 13-7).

However, it was a day of mixed fortunes for the rest of the national lawn bowlers.

The trio of Hj Rosli Hj Ibrahim, Md Ali Bujang and Yakup Amit started the day with a 2-1 (3-11, 11-6, 0-5) loss to Namibia but redeemed themselves in their second game with a 1.5-0.5 (8-8, 8-6) triumph over Malta.

The women's pairs team of Esmawandy Ibrahim and Siti Ervi Fedarussanti Umar got their day off on the right footing with a 2-0 (13-3, 15-3) win over Swaziland.

However, they were brought back down to earth after a 2-1 (6-7, 8-5, 1-5) loss to Samoa.

There was no luck for the women's triples team of Hjh Lilymaryani Ampuan Salleh, Hjh Fatmah Hj Ibrahim, Hjh Ajijah Muntol as they failed to register a win yesterday. They succumbed to South Africa 2-0 (4-12, 4-9) and went down 2-0 (5-7, 6-9) to England.
