Brunei Darussalam’s polo team fell to host nation Thailand 7–7.5 in a tightly contested opening match of the 2–4 Goal division at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand on Wednesday.
The Brunei team, featuring His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, dominated the early stages, leading from the first to the third chukka.
Brunei opened with a 3–1.5 advantage in the first chukka, extending the lead to 6–4.5 in the second. The team maintained momentum to hold a 7–4.5 lead entering the third chukka.
However, Thailand staged a strong comeback in the final chukka, overturning the deficit to secure victory. – James Kon
