Brunei contingent departs for 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

The Brunei Darussalam contingent departed on Monday for Manama, Bahrain to take part in the 3rd Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2025, which will be held from October 22 to 31.

A total of 11 members are representing the Sultanate at the regional sporting event, comprising five athletes and six officials, including the Chef de Mission, Head of Secretariat, Safeguarding and Secretariat Officer, Team Manager, and Coach.

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid the contingent farewell and convey words of encouragement was Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan.

The send-off ceremony began with the recitation of a Doa Selamat led by Youth and Sports Department Officer (Analyst) Awang Haji Ahmad Yaardy bin Haji Abdul Karim, followed by a motivational address to the contingent and a group photo session.

The delegation is led by Chef de Mission Dayang Noorfairuzah Hani binti Haji Mohamad @ Haji Zaini. Brunei Darussalam will compete in two sports events – Aquatics (Swimming) and Golf.

Also present were senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, representatives from national sports associations, as well as parents and guardians of the athletes.

The participation of Brunei’s youth athletes in the Asian Youth Games underscores the nation’s continued commitment to nurturing sporting excellence and fostering regional camaraderie among young athletes. – James Kon
