His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) who is an executive member of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), attended the 43rd OCA General Assembly yesterday in Bangkok, Thailand.
The general assembly’s primary focus is to approve constitutional reforms that align with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Agenda 2020+5.
During the general assembly, IOC President Thomas Bach commended Asia for its key role in the Olympic Movement and lauded OCA Acting President Raja Randhir Singh for supporting Asian athletes.
In a video address, Bach highlighted the success of recent olympic events in Asia, including Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Winter Games, as well as the Tokyo 2020 Games.
Bach urged participants, comprising delegates from 45 national olympic councils, to use the moment to drive positive change for the future of sports in Asia. – James Kon
