Blood donors receive ‘champion’ medals

Registered donors received a ‘Thanks! My Champion’ medal and certificate of donation signed by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council at the blood donation drive organised by Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council at the National Swimming Pool, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday.

The two-day campaign, ends today, is organised in collaboration with Blood Donation Centre, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital and Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.

The campaign is aimed at promoting the importance of blood donation to save lives and to replenish blood supply at the RIPAS Hospital.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud participated.

He urged and welcomed members of the sport associations, athletes and the public to come forward to participate in the blood donation drive to give back to the community.

An exhibition is set up by the Paediatric Haematology at the Women and Children’s Centre of RIPAS Hospital to disseminate information on the benefits of donating blood and spread awareness on thalassaemia patients.

The blood donation drive continues today from 9am to 3pm.
