His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a get-together ceremony with Brunei Darussalam’s contigent to the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, Manila, the Philippines yesterday.

Accompanying His Majesty to the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, and Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar were also at the event.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Chef de Mission Haji Mohd Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani.

The Brunei Darussalam contingent comprises 161 people including 87 athletes participating in 14 sports events namely; polo; netball; football; pencak silat; karatedo; tae kwan do; fencing; aquatics; lawn bowl; billiards; golf; tenpin bolwing; wushu and atheltics.

Later, His Majesty also attended a meeting with President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte at the Malacanang Presidential Palace, Manila.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

During the session, His Majesty and President Duterte discussed bilateral issues and cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines, exchanged views and mutual concerns on current issues, Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, and regional and international matters.

His Majesty then attended a High Tea with President Duterte at the Malacanang Presidential Palace, Manila. Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of the Philippines Hajah Johariah binti Haji Abdul Wahab.
