Royalty attends SEAGF Council Meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) in his capacity as the Honorary Life President of Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) yesterday attended the SEAGF Council meeting held in Quest Hotel, Clark, Pampanga, the Philippines.

President of SEAGF Abraham Tolentino who is President of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) was also present. The meeting was chaired by Chairman of the SEA Games Council Executive Committee Celso Dayrit.

At the SEAGF Council Meeting, it was agreed that the women’s breakdancing event at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games be turned into a demonstration event due to a lack of participants.

In addition, a proposal to only award gold and silver medals in 17 sporting events where they are only three athletes or National Olympic Council (NOC) participation was brought forward.

However, the SEAGF Executive Committee decided that bronze medal should be awarded since the athletes have put in efforts to prepare for the competitions. The SEAGF executive committee unanimously approved the awarding of bronze medals in the 17 sporting events. The meeting also saw the Vietnam NOC delivering a presentation on the preparation for 31st SEA Games 2021 in Hanoi and the Cambodia NOC presenting their preparation on the 32nd SEA Games 2023.

PHISGOC, the organiser broadcasting committee also announced that they will telecast live the 30th SEA Games opening ceremony for free.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness also visited the Athletes Village at New Clark City.
