Sunday, August 23, 2015

HIS Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the president of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD), was yesterday nominated as one of the three new ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) vice-presidents for the 2015-2019 term.

According to the AFF website, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, who is also the president of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), is joined by Zaw Zaw (Myanmar) and Dr Tran Quoc Tuan (Vietnam) in the position.

Major General Khiev Sameth (Cambodia) is the only one who retained the vice-presidency from the previous term.

His Royal Highness Sultan Hj Ahmad Shah won his second term as the president after the withdrawal of the only challenger, Worawi Makudi of Thailand, prior to the election during the AFF 22nd Congress at the Novotel Yangon Max Hotel yesterday.

"I would like to thank all of you for your faith and trust in my abilities in electing me for another term as the president of the ASEAN Football Federation," said HRH Sultan Hj Ahmad Shah.

"It is of utmost importance that there is a continuity in the leadership of a federation... With the election now out of the way let us put aside our differences and work together to develop the ASEAN football federation," he was quoted as saying on the AFF website.
