Mum Bakery Cup to tip off on July 13
Thursday, June 26, 2014

Registration for the Mum Bakery Cup is now open.

The annual competition, which is held in conjunction with His Majesty's 68th Birthday celebrations, is slated to begin on July 13 at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) court in Batu Bersurat. Organised by the BBA, the tournament is open to all cagers holding valid identity cards (yellow, red and green).

Each team are allowed to field two import players (without identity card or employment pass). According to Khoo Eng Cheong, the vice-chairman of the BBA, the reason for allowing imports this year is to provide more of a challenge and will make the tournament more competitive.

Registration fee is set at $300 per team and forms can be obtained from the tournament venue. Completed forms together with fees are to be returned to the organisers no later than 5.30pm on July 6.

Interested parties can contact Ang Eng Kee at 8897449 or Lim Kah Soon at 8875593.

The women will be vying for the TK Cup but it will only be contested if there are more than four teams participating. Mochi-Each A Cup (MEAC) are the defending champions of the competition, dethroning Easyway 70-63 in the final last year.

Miri-based player Voon Yiew Ting poured in 25 points while Esmond Tan added 20 points in the victory. Rhajnee Sinco topscored for Easyway with 19 points while Ben Sim chipped in 14 points in the loss.
