DPMM FC stay top after Woodlands sink Tampines

Tampines Rovers succumbed to their second defeat of the Singapore League (S-League) with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Woodlands Wellington last night.

The result means that DPMM FC will finish week eight at the summit of the 12-team table with 19 points while the Stags remain in second a point adrift.

Woodlands took the lead in the 10th minute after Chang Jo Yoon curled hit shot into the top right corner of the net at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

The three-time defending champions pushed forward in search of an equaliser and it only came in the 50th minute through Shahdan Sulaiman.

Woodlands replied six minutes later through Atsushi Shimono, the goal proving to be the difference to be the winner.

The victory was only the second of the season for Woodlands and they are up to eighth place in the table with 10 points to their name.

The competition continues tomorrow with the battle of the basement dwellers.

Harimau Muda B (Malaysia national under-21 football team) will host the Young Lions (Singapore national under-23 football team) at Pasir Gudang in Johor.

Kick off is at 8.45pm.
