Poor day for nat'l bowlers

National lawn bowlers Hjh Amalia Hj Metali and Abd Rahman Hj Omar were unable to seal a win during yesterday's World Indoor Singles Championship in Australia.

Hjh Amalia ended her campaign with an 8-4, 14-7 loss to Australia's Karen Murphy, finishing 11th in the 12-field women's Group 1 and ending her trip to the Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club in New South Wales with three wins.

Fellow national bowler Abd Rahman fell 12-2, 3-11, 1-2 to Fiji's Samuela Tuikiligana yesterday.

Abd Rahman is still eighth in the 11-player men's Group 2 and will end his campaign against Australia's Tony Wood today.

United States Neil Furman continues to lead Group 2 with nine wins to his name. Men's defending champion, Australia's Jeremy Henry, tops the men's Group 1 with eight wins.

In the women's competition, Norfolk Island's Carmen Anderson topped Group 1 with nine wins to advance to the semis along with Scotland's Caroline Brown, who holds eight wins.

Malaysia's Siti Zalini Ahmad remains top of the women's Group 2 with nine wins to seal her semis slot, where she is joined by Ireland's Cliodhna Eadie with eight wins.
