Mohd Aiman Abdullah (pic) and Pg Aki Ismasufian Pg Hj Ibrahim cruised through day two of the Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association (BDTA) Open Men's Doubles 1st Leg 2014 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jay Yong and Jermaine Francis last night.

The duo of Brunei's current and former No 1, Aiman and Pg Aki, topped the table with an incredible 24 sets won and one loss at the National Tennis Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Juliano Licup and Francis Xavier Golez picked up their first win of the tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Abdul Rasheed Abdullah and Izannie Abu Bakar.

Nurul Mohd Andi Hambali and Billy Wong secured their second win of the competition after taking out Siddhesh Mahadeshwar and Arun Isak Ravi Kumar 6-3, 6-1.

Andi and Wong currently sit at second on the table followed by Licup and Golez.

The top two pairs of the round robin competition will battle in the final on Sunday.

Pg Aki, who was a bronze medallist in the 1999 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, felt that their second match together had shown improvement.

"Certainly it felt a lot better, as we mentioned yesterday it's our first time actually partnering together, ever, and we just need to get used to (playing) together," Pg Aki told The Brunei Times.

"The way we play our own games and our own pace and all that... I must tell you it's much better today.

"We sort of knew where each other was going to go and that's very important. I hope that it will grow better as the tournament goes by.

"The opponents look at us and are probably a little bit nervous but then for us it doesn't matter because we respect every match and opponents we play," he said.

"Whatever we do, we won't take things for granted and we'll take it one match at a time so yeah that's how we're approaching things.

"I'm very happy with my game, I haven't played for a long time but I'm pleased with the second day."

The action continues today with Aiman and Pg Aki facing Rasheed and Izannie, Andi and Wong taking on Francis and Yong while Licup and Golez battle it out with Mahadeshwar and Isak.
