Bruneian is 3rd in 4th Asian Chess Championship

Brunei chess player Pg Abdul Rahman Yussof finished third in the 4th Asian Senior Chess Championship in Amman Jordan last month.

16 players from eight countries participated in this event from January 24-31.

In the nine-round Swiss format tournament, Pg Abdul Rahman won five games against chess players from host Jordan, Syria and Bahrain.

Pg Abdul Rahman defeated Bino Murad and eventual champion Baker Hafez from Jordan.

He then defeated Al Najar Huda and Ahsan Kinaan from Syria.

He continued his brilliant form winning against Al-Ghasra from Bahrain before held to a draw by Rahmani Behruz from Iran.

In final round after very though game he lost to Khechen Nabil from Libya.

In total Pg Abd Rahman collected 5.5 points and shared 3rd to 6th places. - Ak Fauzi Pg Salleh
