Back for the fifth time, the one-day competition will be contested at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex and the Multipurpose Hall of the National Sports Complex in Berakas.

"We are expecting 40 teams to participate in the tournament this year and the format of the tournament will depend on the number of teams participating," said Hj Mohd Noor Hj Hamid, a member of the tournament's organising committee, yesterday.

"Like in previous years, the teams will be divided into groups of five and the second stage of the tournament will be contested in a knock-out format.

"This tournament is open to all players and teams in the country, and national futsal players and futsal teams that are registered with NFABD (National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam) are also welcome to join," he added.

Held to encourage the celebration of His Majesty's birthday through sports, the competition also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of living a healthier lifestyle while also promoting sports among the population.

The tournament will also be used to scout players to represent the country in the future.
