Brunei will host Olympic Day in Temburong District

Olympic Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide to commemorate the birth of modern Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognizes 23rd June as Olympic Day and encourage National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from around the world to organize events with the purpose of enlightening the community about the Olympic Movement that is "to nurture a spirit of mutual understanding and friendship and to contribute to the construction of a peaceful and better world through sports". This represents the fundamental spirit of the Olympics.

In the effort of supporting IOCs's objectives, Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) with collaboration from the Department of Youth and Sports once again is organising an Olympic Day event on Sunday, 23rd June 2013 at Temburong Sports Complex, Temburong. This is the first time this event is held at this district. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the president of BDNOC is expected to attend and launch the event.

The event kickstarts with an aerobic session followed by the launching of the event by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah. Various activities have been lined up to commemorate this day and these activities are open to everyone and can be participated by all age groups.

There will be sport activities which includes football 5 A side, kids athletics, hockey, bocce, tug of war, sepak takraw, futsal, netball, basketball and traditional games. There will also be learn to swim session, flying fox, BDNOC Exhibitions and colouring competition for children. A lucky draw event as well will be part of the highlight on that day.

Free t-shirts will be given to all participants and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

Registration for the Olympic Day will start at 6.45 am.
