Al-Idrus Junior completed their the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) TelBru Youth Under-16 National Football League group stage with a 100 per cent record after thrashing Sports School 4-0 in Group A on Sunday.

The win earned them qualification into the next round of the tournament and puts them at the top of five-team-table with a maximum of 12 points.

Mohd Asri Hj Apsar was the hero for Al-Idrus Junior after notching a hat-trick, while Muhd Azim Hamidon also got his names on the score sheet with one goal.

Mohd Asri now leads the league in goals with 14, with Muara Vella's Abd Khair Hj Basir second on seven and Muhd Syahmi Rashid of Brunei Darussalam School Sports' Council (MSSSBD) third on five.

"I couldn't have asked for more from my players, they did very well on Sunday," said manager Hj Mansur Hj Mohd Yasin in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.

"From the strikers to the midfielders, defenders and goalkeeper...They were all brilliant.

"It was our last group stage game and we managed to rest some key players. Half of the team that started on Sunday were from the bench.

"I am very pleased with how we progressed throughout the tournament the teamwork is there and the players are more confident now.

"Muhd Azim was brilliant during the game. He had a wonderful game and was involved in all the goals scored during the game.

"Now that we qualified for the next round, we need to put extra in everything," he continued.

Al-Idrus will face either the Brunei Darussalam School Sports' Council (MSSSBD) or Muara Vella in the last four.

"MSSSBD and Muara Vella are both good teams," said the manager, "but we are ready to face any of the two".

Al-Idrus broke the deadlock in the 41st minute through Mohd Asri at the Balapan Track & Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Mohd Asri would double Al-Idrus Junior's lead with his second in the 74th minute before Mohd Azim added the third two minutes later.

Al-Idrus continued to dominate the game and Mohammad Asri would seal off the match by scoring his third goal in the 79th minute.

Group B play saw Belait B defeat FC Phosphor 5-2 at the Mumong Sports Complex in Belait.

Mohd Salleh Abdullah, Mohammad Ibnuryzam Ariffin, Umar Dane Hj Hassan, Ak Muhd Khairul Haziq Pg Roslan and Ak Muhd Amirul Adli Hakim Pg Ramlee Norshah all got on the scoresheet for Belait B in the win.

Meanwhile, Mohd Na'im Hj Tarif and Mohd Mafazihilmi Mohammad scored for FC Phosphor in the defeat.
