The Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BNOC) has certainly reached greater heights.

Its president, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, was recently appointed an Executive Board Member of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) by Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, the President of OCA.

The appointment was made in July when His Royal Highness attended the 30th OCA General Assembly in Tokyo.

HRH has been the president of the BNOC since its establishment in 1984.

The BNOC president (pic) was also instrumental in bringing football back to the Sultanate after getting Brunei's suspension lifted by Fifa during the Executive Committee meeting in Zurich from May 31-June 1.

HRH was also given the position of honorary president of NFABD (the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam) for his efforts and hard work.

Meanwhile, HRH attended a roundtable discussion between the BNOC and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports at the Muzakarah Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday.

Those on the agenda included solving problems that have been put forward by several sports associations and also preparing for upcoming international competitions the 26th Southeast Asian Games in November in Indonesia, Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) to run from Feb 25 to March 3, London Olympic Games 2012 and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Also present during the discussion were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Hjh Adina Othman, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and other officers from both parties.
